Our Founder and Precious Author
Hekimoglu Ismail was born in 1932 in Erzincan, Turkey. He is the founder of Timas Publishing Group and the author of the most printed Turkish novel “Minyeli Abdullah”. The novel tells the story of a Muslim man in Egypt facing troubles because of his religious activities, yet it really handles a more general situation, the issue of oppression against people’s beliefs in all over the world. This book became a symbol for freedom of belief especially in the Islamic community. He has been involved in teaching Islam to people since the first time he read the Quran, in 1957. He has been a writer and a journalist since 1967. He founded Timas Publishing Group in 1982. He has written over 60 books in categories of novel, non-fiction, poetry and theatre. Hekimoğlu İsmail, who spent his life trying to bring Islam’s light into people’s lives, has become an important figure in the intellectual world of people who defend the freedom of belief in Turkey. We aim to share the heritage he produced, through translations of his works for both adults and for children
